The Bi-State Pet Food Pantry is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that was created to help people keep their family pets during financially difficult times. The Pantry is intended to be a short-term resource to help supplement your pets’ food, not a long-term solution, or a primary source for pet food. We reserve the right to limit the amount of food provided, and the number of times assistance is provided at any time.
Please remember that everyone at the Bi-State Pet Food Pantry is a volunteer. No one associated with the Pantry is paid. In addition to donating time at our distributions, we also spend countless hours every month soliciting donations, collecting those donations, preparing and packaging food for distribution and doing clerical work. This is not a government agency and receives no corporate sponsorship – just people helping people.
Q: How do I receive pet food?
A: Once a month we hold distribution events. You can find out our distribution times by visiting our website, via our Facebook page, or by calling 314-596-2128. Patrons of the pantry may not line up before 9:30 a.m. Please stay in your vehicles until 9:30 a.m.
Q: Where are you located?
A: We are located at 4015 Papin St., St. Louis, MO 63110 (near I-40 and Vandeventer)
Q: What do I need to bring with me when I pick up food?
A: You must bring with you a picture ID with your current address. You also must provide proof of need (SS letter, Medicaid card, unemployment letter, referral letter). We also require verification that your pets have been spayed/neutered (If you do not provide that information we can only assist you with food for 2 months).
Q: How much food will I receive?
A: You will only receive food assistance one time per month. Enough food will be provided to feed each animal for about one month, with a maximum of 50 pounds per animal depending on their size.
Q: Do you deliver?
A: We are unable to deliver at this time. If you are in need of assistance but don’t have access to a vehicle, please try the bus system.
Q: Do you help if I add a new pet?
A: If you add additional pets after your initial visit to the pantry, we will no longer assist you with pet food. If you need help feeding the animals you already have, you should not assume the financial responsibility of another pet. Our mission is to help you keep the pets you have now, not so you can adopt more.
Q: What if I have a pet on a special diet?
A: Please understand the food provided is donated and may not be your current brand, which may upset your pet’s stomach (it is best to mix the donated food gradually to your current food).
Q: My neighbor needs food too. Can I pick up food for them?
A: No. We ask if a neighbor, family member, or friend needs help too, they contact the Pantry directly at (314) 596-2128 to schedule a time convenient for them to pick up food or you may carpool together to get food at the same time.
Q: Do you offer food for other pets? (birds, guinea pigs, gerbils, hamsters)
A: Since our food is donated, we do have some food for other pets, but it is not guaranteed.
